Small Engine/Fleet Technician

This position will maintain a small fleet of gas and diesel light/medium duty trucks; landscaping trailers with electric brakes; small engines both four and two cycle (mowers, blowers, trimmers, etc.) and do some light facility repairs and maintenance as well. This is a part time position that will work a minimum 20 hours per week, which may lead to more, during an evening shift of 4:00 to 7:00 pm (with some flexibility in hours).

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test
  • Must have own basic tools
  • Must have valid driver’s license and meet company’s standard to be insured
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years hands on experience (formal training may substitute for hands on experience up to 2 years)
  • Some welding, both gas and electric
  • Small Gas 4/2-cycle engine and light diesel experience
  • Light/Medium duty truck and trailer experience and/or Landscaping equipment repair in:
  • Tune ups, Fuel system, Brakes, Charging systems, Blade sharpening

Shop/Facility Helper

Qualified candidates will be responsible for, but nor limited to:
  • Experienced in preventative maintenance (facility or equipment).
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Experience with working with tools.
  • Positive attitude and teamwork is a must
  • Organized self-starter with the ability to problem solve
  • Experienced in communicating clearly and effectively
  • Able to pick up parts, supplies, plants and other materials from vendors as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area, in compliance with Company policy and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of job site safety and potential job hazards.
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Ability to read, write and speak English well.
  • Must be able to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of common procedures and proven ability to follow established methods and standing instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license required, commercial driver’s license preferred, but not required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

This is a full-time position that will work a minimum 40 hours per week, normally 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader

DeSantis Landscapes is seeking a qualified grounds maintenance crew leader for the Portland area with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in the landscape industry. This position requires an excellent understanding and demonstration of proper pruning practices on all types of plant material, irrigation system controllers and basic repairs, familiarity/operation of typical grounds maintenance equipment, and broad knowledge of plant identification. Excellent oral and written communication and leadership skills are required along with strong attention to detail. CLT Certification a plus. Preferably bilingual. A pre employment drug test is required.

Enhancement/Special Projects Crew Leader

DeSantis Landscapes is seeking a qualified enhancement crew leader with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the landscape industry. This position requires an excellent understanding and demonstration of proper pruning practices on all types of plant material, a strong knowledge base of irrigation systems and plant identification.  Landscape Industry certifications preferred and/or at least two years of formal horticultural training.  Typical activities performed by the position as follows:

  • Pavers/Stepping Stone Installation
  • Landscape Lighting Installation
  • Sodding/Seeding
  • Irrigation System installation and repair
  • Lawn Renovations
  • Fertilizing/Pest Control
  • Pruning
